Jillian Taylor McNew

My two passions in life are helping people and working with children. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have been fortunate enough to find a career that allows me to do both. I have specialized training working with children, adolescents and their parents in managing a variety of life problems, and I have substantial education, training and clinical experience assisting families and individuals with issues such as:

  • Grief

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Trauma

  • PTSD

  • ADHD

  • Difficulties in school

  • Low self-esteem

  • Mental health issues

Communicating with children can be a challenge, as they express themselves differently than adults. My practice approach involves a combination of play therapy and art therapy techniques to assist children in verbalizing their feelings, thus facilitating the communication process.

I am also uniquely trained in grief therapy for children and adults. In the past several years, I have enjoyed working with organizations such as Camp Hope (www.camphopeca.com), Yolo Hospice, and Sutter's Children Bereavement Art Group. As a result, I have acquired extensive experience in guiding children and adults through the grief process following the death of a loved one.

I enjoy working with adults as well and I’ve had success working with adults on a wide range of issues. Such as transitioning into adulthood, difficulty with social interactions, transition into parenthood, anxiety, depression, and difficulty with managing life stress. I utilize evidenced-based treatment modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in my work.
